This is a full revision of the IRMd internal implementation.
The registry is now a proper subcomponent managing its own internal
lock (a single mutex). Some tests are added for the registry and its
data structures. Some macros for tests are added in <ouroboros/test.h>.
Flow allocation is now more symmetric between the client side (alloc)
and server size (accept). Each will create a flow in pending state
(ALLOC_PENDING/ACCEPT_PENDING) that is potentially fulfilled by an
IPCP using respond_alloc and respond_accept primitives. Deallocation
is split in flow_dealloc (application side) and ipcp_flow_dealloc
(IPCP side) to get the flow in DEALLOC_PENDING and DEALLOCATED state.
Cleanup of failed flow allocation is now properly handled instead of
relying on the sanitizer thread. The new sanitizer only needs to
monitor crashed processes.
On shutdown, the IRMd will now detect hanging processes and SIGKILL
them and clean up their fuse mountpoints if needed.
A lot of other things have been cleaned up and shuffled around a bit.

The thread pool manager wasn't counting working threads when deciding
to create new ones, resulting in constant starting of new threads when
threads were busy.

There was a rare deadlock upon destruction of the threadpool manager
because the threads were cancelled/joined under lock.

This makes the threadpool use pthread_cancel instead of setting an
exit flag that threadpool managed threads check periodically. This
drastically reduces CPU consumption in the irmd when running a lot of
applications. It requires cancellation handlers in the ipcp and irmd
to be implemented to ensure safe cancellation during operation and
shutdown.

This adds a threadpool manager to the DHT. This was needed because the
detached thread could cause a data race on shutdown.
The threadpool manager is revised to allow multiple instances in a
single program.
The irmd and ipcp now store commands in a buffer (list) instead of a
single buffer before passing it to handler threads.

This revises the build system to have configuration per system
component. System settings can now be set using cmake.
The standard compliance defines were removed from configuration header
and are set in the sources where needed. Also some small code
refactors, such as moving the data for shims out of the ipcp structure
to the respective shims were performed.

The threadpool manager now tracks threads to prevent cyclic behaviour
where too many threads shut down and the TPM responds with creating
additional threads.
|
|
This adds a threadpool manager component in the library that is used
in the IRMd and IPCPs. The threadpool manager now doesn't detach
threads but does a join when they exit. This solves a data race in the
previous implementation where some threads were not completely finished
upon release of some resources.
