* ipdpd: Pass MPL to application at flow_allocationDimitri Staessens2022-03-081-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | The maximum packet lifetime (MPL) is a property of the flow that needs to be passed to the reliable transmission protocol (FRCP) for its correct operation. Previously, the value of MPL was set fixed as one of the (fixed) Delta-t parameters. This patch makes the MPL a property of the layer, and it can now be set per layer-type at build time. This is a step towards a proper MPL estimator in the flow allocator. Signed-off-by: Dimitri Staessens <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sander Vrijders <[email protected]>
* lib, ipcpd, irmd: Wrap pthread unlocks for cleanupDimitri Staessens2021-06-231-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | This add an ouroboros/pthread.h header that wraps the pthread_..._unlock() functions for cleanup using pthread_cleanup_push() as this casting is not safe (and there were definitely bad casts in the code). The close() function is now also wrapped for cleanup in ouroboros/sockets.h. This allows enabling more compiler checks. * lib, ipcpd: piggyback ECDHE on flow allocationDimitri Staessens2020-02-251-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | The initial implementation for the ECDHE key exchange was doing the key exchange after a flow was established. The public keys are now sent allowg on the flow allocation messages, so that an encrypted tunnel can be created within 1 RTT. The flow allocation steps had to be extended to pass the opaque data ('piggybacking'). Signed-off-by: Dimitri Staessens <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sander Vrijders <[email protected]>

| | | | | | | Updates the copyright notice in all sources to 2019. Signed-off-by: Dimitri Staessens <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sander Vrijders <[email protected]>
* lib: Rename port_id to flow_idDimitri Staessens2018-10-051-4/+4
| | | | | | | Renames port_id to flow_id according to updated nomenclature. Signed-off-by: Dimitri Staessens <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sander Vrijders <[email protected]>
* lib: Pass qosspec at flow allocationDimitri Staessens2018-10-051-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | The flow allocator now passes the full qos specification to the endpoint, instead of just a cube. This is a more flexible architecture, as it makes QoS cubes internal to the layers. Adds endianness transforms for the flow allocator protocol in the normal IPCP. * lib, tools: Rename application process and instanceDimitri Staessens2017-12-021-8/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | This refactors ouroboros to use "program" instead of "application process" and "process" instead of "application process instance" to align with current naming in current Operating Systems courses instead of the ISO nomenclature adopted by RINA. This change permeates through the entire implementation. Also contains some minor other refactors. * irmd: Set correct clock for irm_flow condvarDimitri Staessens2017-11-291-21/+31
| | | | | | | | | The irm_flow condition variable was not initialized to the correct clock, resulting in bad timedwaits when a flow was allocated with a timeout. Signed-off-by: Dimitri Staessens <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Sander Vrijders <[email protected]>
* lib: Cancel tpm threads instead of marking exitdimitri staessens2017-09-301-10/+22
| | | | | | | | | This makes the threadpool use pthread_cancel instead of setting an exit flag that threadpool managed threads check periodically. This drastically reduces CPU consumption in the irmd when running a lot of applications. It requires cancellation handlers in the ipcp and irmd to be implemented to ensure safe cancellation during operation and shutdown.
* build: Revise the build systemdimitri staessens2017-08-211-1/+4
| | | | | | | | | | This revises the build system to have configuration per system component. System settings can now be set using cmake. The standard compliance defines were removed from configuration header and are set in the sources where needed. Also some small code refactors, such as moving the data for shims out of the ipcp structure to the respective shims were performed.
* build: Replace fsf snail mail with contact URLdimitri staessens2017-08-131-1/+1
|
* lib, ipcpd, irmd: Add full-fledged QoSSander Vrijders2017-06-211-0/+2
| | | | | | | This adds more Quality of Service support to Ouroboros. One part is the network specific characteristics such as bandwidth, delay, ... The other part is end-to-end QoS like reliability, window based flow control, ...
* lib, irmd: Implement flow allocation timeoutdimitri staessens2017-04-061-7/+30
| | | | | | Setting the timeouts on flow_alloc and flow_accept will now work. This makes some changes to the UNIX sockets used for management communication between the APs, IRMd and IPCPs.
* irmd: Fix dealloc of pending flowdimitri staessens2017-04-021-2/+5
|
* irmd: Keep track of qos in irm_flowdimitri staessens2017-03-311-3/+5
| | | | This fixes the bug in handling multiple concurrent flow allocations.
* lib: Revise flow allocation APIdimitri staessens2017-03-311-2/+10
| | | | | | The flow_alloc_res and flow_alloc_resp calls have been removed. The flow_alloc and flow_accept calls are now both blocking and take an additional timeout argument.
* irmd: Set failed flows to FLOW_NULL before destroydimitri staessens2017-03-291-1/+0
|
* ipcpd: normal: Several bugfixesSander Vrijders2017-03-211-2/+3
| | | | These solve several bugfixes in the normal.
* Change email addresses to ugent.beSander Vrijders2017-03-031-1/+2
| | | | | | | Our mailserver was migrated from intec.ugent.be to the central ugent.be emailserver. This PR updates the header files to reflect this change as well. Some header files were also homogenized if the parameters within the functions were badly aligned.
* lib: Log to the logging systemdimitri staessens2017-02-081-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | This removes the logfile and outputs log messages to the logging system. The creation of the logfiles (as well as the ap_init() call) were moved into ipcp_init() to simplify the IPCP creation and shutdown. Fixes #25 Fixes #27
* build: Update licenses and copyrightdimitri staessens2017-01-091-1/+1
| | | | | Copyright is set to 2016 - 2017. License text on includes and sources in the library are changed to indicate the LGPLv2.1 license.
* ouroboros: Correct license statementsdimitri staessens2016-12-241-3/+2
| | | | | This corrects the license statements on all files. Installed headers are LGPLv2.1, the rest of the code is GPLv2.
* irmd: Refactor irm_flowdimitri staessens2016-11-161-11/+27
| | | | | Creation and destruction of the rbuffs is now completely handled in the irm_flow.
* irmd: Fix check in irm_flowdimitri staessens2016-10-271-1/+1
|
* irmd: Fix cleanup of pending flowsdimitri staessens2016-10-271-0/+13
|
* lib: Move rbuff creation/destruction to IRMddimitri staessens2016-10-211-0/+6
| | | | | This stabilises flow allocation now that the rbuffs are created upon flow allocation. Only the IRMd can sync this process sufficiently.
* lib: Fix flow deallocation logicdimitri staessens2016-10-131-1/+1
| | | | | Both the N and N-1 entity must now call flow_dealloc for the port_id to be released.
* lib, ipcp: Revise fast path and flow interfacesdimitri staessens2016-10-041-0/+47
| | | | | | | | | | | | IPCPs can now use ap_init() to initialize the memory. All flows are accessed using flow descriptors, this greatly simplifies IPCP development. Reverts the fast path to a single ap_rbuff per process. Splits lib/ipcp into irmd/ipcp and lib/ipcp-dev. Adds a lib/shim-dev holding tailored functions for shims. Moves the buffer_t to utils.h. Fixes the shim-eth-llc length field. Removes the flow from shared.h. Fixes #4 Fixes #5
* irmd: Graceful shutdowndimitri staessens2016-08-101-4/+1
| | | | | | Threads from the threadpool will now check the state of the IRMd and exit gracefully without a need to cancel them. This avoids the unsafe call of pthread_cancel in the signal handler.
* irmd: Fix bad lockingdimitri staessens2016-08-091-1/+0
| | | | Locks should be kept before calling cond_wait.
* irmd: Refactor and bugfixesdimitri staessens2016-08-081-0/+81
Refactors the IRMd to extract reg_api and irm_flow structures to their own sources. Fixes some locking bugs.
